Dreaming With My Eyes Open: The Art of John Joseph Sheehy

'I love all colours, when I'm painting it's like I'm dreaming with my eyes open. Most of my paintings I start from a blank then it develops from there on, sometimes I create around the clock it's like I go into a trance - it's pure divine magical, I'm compelled to paint.'

Novas Gallery Camden is delighted to be showcasing a selection of paintings, etchings and screen prints by artist John Joseph Sheehy. John became an artist in his fifties, without any formal training, but went on to study Fine Art at the University of East London, graduating in 2008. This exhibition offers a brief opportunity to glimpse the world of an artist inspired by his own understanding of God, nature, his current city life and memories of his childhood in rural Ireland.
